Photography. It’s a love I’ve had since I was a little girl. I was obsessed with my Dad’s throw away 35mm disposable cameras and recall taking pictures of the grass, mailboxes and cows at the age of 11. In 2011, I decided to purchase my first DSLR Camera, and I haven’t looked back since. If you’re contemplating whether or not you should make the investment in a DSLR, don’t second guess! It’s been the best investment for me personally and professionally.
Below are just some of the reasons you should invest in a DSLR Camera-
- Take Your Own Family Photos
When your children reach milestones 3, 6, 9, 12 months, etc…You can be the one to capture those moments instead of spending money on a professional photographer. Don’t get me wrong, professional family photos are amazing to have! But, what if you could learn how to capture those milestone moments on your own? Being able to take the majority of the pictures would save money in the long run. As a professional photographer, I limit family pictures to once a year for our family. I take the rest!
- Documenting Your Days
If you follow me on this blog, or on my Instagram, you know that I LOVE in the moment photos of my children. The captured moments when they are giggling with Dad, finger painting at our kitchen table, or exploring sibling adventures together in superhero outfits. If I took pictures of these moments with my iPhone, they would not be the same quality. I love my DSLR for documenting our everyday moments. There’s an amazing feeling being behind my DSLR Camera and capturing carefree childhood memories.
- New Hobby
I can’t begin to tell you how much I’ve learned since picking up photography as a hobby! With photography, you will be able to explore different places to shoot, unique angles to try, learn about editing software and different equipment. Investing in a DSLR Camera will motivate you to continue to learn new things about photography.
- You Can Include Your Kids
Because it’s a hobby that takes place in your home, it doesn’t take away precious time with babies. I can include my kiddos while I am snapping beautiful moments of them. Win-Win! As they grow older, and can be trusted with holding a camera, I will teach them everything they need to know. I look forward to those days with their faces behind a camera.
- Business Opportunities
I stepped into photography not thinking I would ever start a business. I just wanted to take beautiful photos! I mean, who doesn’t? 🙂 I had no idea I would be shooting weddings professionally, or even have both a photography and blog website. Because I took that leap to purchase a DSLR Camera it has opened up so many doors for me. I have learned so much and am grateful I purchased my first DSLR in 2011. Have you considered taking the next step and purchasing a DSLR? Do you have a camera and wondering about which additional equipment to purchase? I’d love to help you and let you know what I didn’t when I started years ago! I had NO idea what camera body and lenses to purchase when I started. To help those interested in purchasing a DSLR, I have created a free guide on the items that are currently in my camera bag.
